World of Warcraft – Wrath of the Lich King Classic™ Arrives September 26

Wrath of the Lich King Goes to Classic This Year!

The Lich King, Arthas Menethil, sits in the ominous Icecrown Citadel scheming to claim the world as his own—a plan that threatens all life on Azeroth. Heroes of the Alliance and Horde must stand against the malevolent being who dares to declare himself the one true king of Azeroth…and seeks to scour all life from the world.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic™ will thrill both veterans and newcomers with a host of improved features and content to explore:

  • The Grim Frozen North – Heroes will begin their journey in one of two zones in Northrend—Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord—and adventure through some of the most epic vistas and beloved storylines in all of Warcraft before breaching the seat of the Lich King’s power in Icecrown.
  • The Rise of Death Knights – Available to both factions and starting at level 55, Death Knights—World of Warcraft’s first hero class—harness the powers of darkness to help combat the evil that threatens Azeroth. While Death Knights are limited to one per server and require a level 55 character on that server to create, in Wrath Classic, we will be bypassing that requirement for a player’s first Death Knight.
  • New Profession—Inscription – This new profession allows players to scribe mystical glyphs that modify the properties of spells and abilities (cooldowns, damage, etc.), and craft powerful trinkets and off-hand items.
  • Achievements Unlocked – Achievements are coming to WoW Classic, giving players new rewards for their exploits and accomplishments.
  • Dungeons & Raids – Relive seminal 5-player dungeons like Azjol-Nerub and the Culling of Stratholme, and lay siege to Naxxramas as a 25- or 10-player raid—an update of its original iteration as a 40-player raid in pre-expansion World of Warcraft.
  • Included With Existing World of Warcraft Subscriptions – As with previous WoW Classic releases, anyone who subscribes to World of Warcraft can also play Wrath of the Lich King Classic at no additional cost.

Joyous Journeys 50% Experience Buff Ahead in Burning Crusade Classic

The road ahead is icy and fraught with danger. To help you prepare for your adventures in Wrath of the Lich King Classic, players in Burning Crusade Classic will get an experience buff* called “Joyous Journeys,” which will increase experience gains by 50%! It’s a great time to finish leveling a character, create a new one, or invite friends to join you in your adventures.

Players can also visit any innkeeper in a capital city to turn the experience buff off or on. The journey won’t last forever and will end with the launch of Wrath of the Lich King Classic.

Blizzard are excited to be able to bring this classic adventure to you, so don’t forget to sign up for the beta. For the latest information and updates, keep checking WorldofWarcraft.com, and follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

World of Warcraft – Dragonflight Removes Gendered Language in Character Creation

Original Post by Demi Williams of NME.com (Click here to view)

“Datamined strings indicate the game could also add the option for players to select their pronouns”

World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight will be removing gendered language from its character creation menu, according to the newly released alpha.

The Dragonflight alpha went live yesterday (July 15) and gave players the first glimpse at what to expect from the new expansion. This included the revamped character creation screen which will now exclude the use of gender-specific terminology.

In the existing game, when creating a character players are presented with either ‘male’ or ‘female’. However, Dragonflight will be changing this to ‘body 1’ and ‘body 2’.

A new Wowhead post also notes another change currently not implemented on the Dragonflight alpha, but datamined strings indicate it will be added to the game, is the option for players to select their pronouns. Apparently, the game will let players choose between he/him, she/her or they/them, as well as a preferred voice.

“What we don’t know is how these options would be used though, as there doesn’t appear to be any place to actually select this customization, and neither gender nor pronouns have ever been referenced in any player UI element,” Wowhead explains.

However, it’s notable that the game already avoids referencing the player using pronouns, instead choosing to call them “champion” or “hero”.  It’s unclear if the datamined option will just be a personalized feature or if pronouns will be introduced to the game’s system.

World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight was announced in April and will introduce Dragonriding, “an all-new skill-based method of aerial movement that allows players to take to the skies on the back of their personal Dragon Isles Drake.”

Last month, Blizzard confirmed the expansion will launch “on or before December 31, 2022” with three digital versions being available for preorder.

Lox responds: “I’m not sure if this is a good idea or not, and I’m a member of the LGBTQ community. Are we taking this political correctness too far? Or, is it the right time to finally acknowledge that society no longer looks at identity in black-and-white terms, and should therefore give people the chance to create their own identity, whether in the real world, or in a fantasy game?

World of Warcraft – I’ve Joined the Dark Side

My new Pandaren Death Knight, Loxidiana

So, it has been so many years since I last played World of Warcraft, and even then, I only ever had Alliance characters. I couldn’t access my old account and recover my old chars, so I started again. Of course, I made an Human Warrior, as Alliance, and went about trying to remember how to play the game!

Little did I know beforehand that the entire game had changed, way beyond my understanding. There were many versions of the game on Battlenet, and I had no idea which one I was supposed to be playing. I just clicked on the main game and went for it.

As my main game at the time was EVE Online, I only logged in about once a week, but noticed I was levelling way faster than I ever remembered. In fact, I’m sure I recall it taking several long days (or more) to get from level 69 to 70 on my old Night Elf Rogue. Yes, another change… if you play the non-classics, it is now designed to be less about the grind, and more about the story, I suppose!

Anyway, I digress. As EVE Online has taken a bit of a back seat for a while, I have started to focus more on WoW and get involved. I joined a wonderful, active guild: The Dungeon Raiders (Alliance) and have been joining their runs and stuffz. Then, as I noticed I was unable to join them on the Horde side, I decided now was the time to jump in and play on the dark side. Now, I have my first Horde character and have joined the sister guild to The Raiders, The Dungeon Seekers (Horde).

The Journey… (Updated as I go!)

Where the heck do I go from here?

When I restarted my WoW campaign, I discovered that the game is way less linear than I remember it too. I am constantly moving from one area to another without even realising I’m doing it. Instead of completing one area and then being directed to the next… and therefore moving steadily through the game, I’ve been moving/teleported all over Azeroth! At least in a guild you can get more help and direction.

Anyway, I’m going to stick with my Horde char for a bit and see whether I can get used to the other side of the world and it’s darkness! I’ll update the gallery above as I level and hear her up.

World of Warcraft – Blizzard Reveals the New, Dragon-Filled Expansion

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is Coming!

On April 19th 2022, Blizzard revealed the upcoming ninth expansion in the World of Warcraft series: Dragonflight. As the name suggests, Dragonflight will let players ride dragons and discover the long-lost Dragon Isles, as well as introducing revamps to the talent and crafting systems. Apparently, there will also be an overhaul of the game’s User Interface (UI), which hasn’t been done in decades!

Further Information (Sourced from TheVerge.com)

Dragonflight will focus on the return of the Dragon Aspects, the magical guardians of Azeroth who disappeared after the events of the Cataclysm expansion 12 years ago. Players will journey to the mysterious and heretofore hidden Dragon Isles to explore five zones, each themed after one of the five dragon aspects. Dragonflight will also add a new race / class combo called Dracthyr Evokers, a race of draconic humanoids (think the Worgen from Wrath of the Lich King) with ranged damage and healing powers related to the Dragon Aspects. Unlike the Worgen, however, Dracthyr can only be the Evoker class, and the Evoker class is race locked to the Dracthyr.

On the crafting side, it seems like World of Warcraft is learning from examples set by critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. Professions will introduce a new quality rating system as well as receive a dedicated inventory slot. Players who have the right raw materials but not the right crafting profession to shape them will be able to take advantage of a new way to get gear made. The work order system will replace the tried and true tradition of /yelling in trade chat. Instead of spamming the chat with requests for crafters to make a desired weapon or piece of armor, Dragonflight will add a new interface by which players can post what they want made and the materials to make it for crafters to pick and choose at their leisure.
