Legacies

New Release: “Legacies: The First LoxTech Novel”

by Xavier Phoenix

What’s the Story?

This is the first in a trilogy of books which follow the exploits of members of the LoxTech Corporation. Welcome to the future, where humanity still struggles with the same old problems.

It is 2367 and Thadius Lox, a young starship captain of the United Terran Federation, has his career in the Space Force cut short after the death of his father leaves LoxTech Corporation without a leader. LoxTech, part of a group of big businesses called the Templar Alliance, is all that stands between the Federation and a formidable insurgency known as the Brotherhood of Delgrath. With his reluctant move from soldier to businessman, Lox – a veteran of the recent Border War against the Brotherhood – is unable to avoid new battles that play out across outer space and also much closer to home.

About the Author…

Xavier Phoenix was born in the west country, in the 80’s. His early years were affected by tragedy in the family and then he, and his younger brother, moved to West Sussex, when he was 5 years old.

Primary school was difficult – having an obvious physically disability didn’t help. Secondary school was a little better, but Xavier struggled with the realisation he was gay, in an area which he considered to be very conservative. He became troublesome in the latter years and begun to truant and commit acts of petty crime.

After schooling, Xavier left home to live with a friendly but eccentric foreign couple, and went out to work in a range of temporary jobs. He couldn’t adjust to a life with more responsibility and started to commit more serious crimes.

At the age of nineteen, one particular crime would change his life forever, and he was sent to prison for six months. After release, Xavier moved to a new area and tried to restart his life. This was not to be. The short stint inside jail did not do anything to deter him from going on to commit even more, serious, offences. Eventually, in 2010, Xavier was sent to prison on an indeterminate sentence, which had a tariff of five years, but ultimately served over eleven years.

During his time “inside”, Xavier used writing as a way of dealing with the situation he found himself in. Over the next ten years, alongside specialist offender behaviour programmes to deter future crime, and with invaluable help from a Creative Writing tutor and a Writer in Residence, he worked hard to complete his first book, Legacies: The First LoxTech Novel. By the time of his release, in 2021, Xavier had nearly completed the second of what was clearly going to be a trilogy, Homecoming: The Second LoxTech Novel.

We are now up to date with this incredibly concise and non-descript biography. Xavier is committed to moving forward as a productive member of society and putting back into a system that has helped him to stop his criminality, once and for all.
