The “Rust & Romance” Update is LIVE

I’ve already done two series of this game on the LoxTech Gaming YouTube channel, but I saw this update news on STEAM and really want to play it again, just to see all the new stuff. Check out the trailer here…

Full Update Notes from STEAM

Alright, we added a TON of stuff in this update. So let’s get to it!

While your previous saves will work with this update, we still highly recommend starting a new world to get the full experience.

Settler Personalities

The settlers were always something I wanted to give more depth. This update does just that by introducing personalities to each settler. They’re also more lively in your settlement as we’ve replaced work breaks with recreation time.

Personalities are split into two different variants. Perks and preferences. The perks improve certain things the settlers are good at, such as combat prowess or work efficiency. Whereas the preferences focus more on the settler’s needs and wants.

If you spend a lot of time finding and optimizing your settlers, they can become quite crazy combat allies or speedy workers in your settlement.

Our friendly dev Jonas rambled through a whole video about personalities. You can check it out here:

In this video our friendly dev Jonas talks about the new personality system coming in the Rust & Romance Update, dropping on July 30th.

Romance ❤️

As the name suggests, Necesse Rust & Romance brings a brand new romance system to the game.

It is now possible to start dating your settlers by bringing them a pretty flower! When you do, you’ll be lead on a series of unique romance quests, which may lead to them falling for you…

But I’ll leave the details out, for you to discover 😘

The Scrapyard

This update introduces a new tier 8 incursion: The Scrapyard.

It’s filled with new enemy types, weapons and armor you can craft. And of course a new unique boss which has a chance to drop a fun new toy.

Bigger Biomes & The Charred Forest

We’re still on the mission to make Necesse the best game it can be. One of the major points of feedback since the 1.0 were the new biome sizes. This update tries to fix that by making them much bigger, and we’d love to know what you think.

But beware when exploring the bigger biomes! There have been sightings of large patches of Charred Forests, fiery birds in the sky and forgotten golems in the ash…

And those were just the major features. We’ve also added a lot more smaller changes, quality of life and bug fixes. Here are a few of them!

  • Added 2 new craftable summon weapons in the early game.
  • Added the Transmutation Station used to easily convert Essences in the end game.
  • Added 29 new cool objects that grant happiness to settlers in the room they are placed.
  • Fixed a bug that nerfs the Bashy Bush summon weapon (sorry, not sorry).
  • Added a settler list in the top left, while in the settlement menu and a better command menu.
  • Added 4 new achievements!

You can read the full changelog below.

With this update, we’ve brought a lot of changes to the systems you know, and we’d love to hear your feedback on them. Even though it has gotten more time consuming, I do still read all the reviews and feedback that comes in. So don’t hold back! 😊

Lastly I’d also like to personally shout out our amazing community translators who’ve been helping us translating this update before it went live. Thank you so much for your hard work!

Enjoy the update everyone!
