Accursed Towers Clan-based Game Mode

Recently, cryptic obelisks from many eons ago were unearthed, each exuding an aura of power. Sanctuary’s denizens desire to claim such power for themselves but do not yet know how to do so. Accursed Towers is a new game mode that features both PvE and PvP gameplay. Clans will compete to claim ownership of towers, thereby providing powerful bonuses to all Clan members and the opportunity to acquire new Cursed Items. Players must be in a Clan to participate in Accursed Towers.

The description below of Accursed Towers is only a bird’s eye view of the game mode. We plan to provide additional details via in-game mail after the maintenance period that will help Clan Leaders make the most of Accursed Towers. There are also in-game tutorials that can help quickly get you up to speed on this new feature. To access those, click or tap the “i” icons in the Accursed Towers menu.

How to Claim Towers

Each Clan may have up to 2 towers under their control per Season. At the end of each eight-week Season, the ownership of all towers will be reset.

At the start of a Season, players will see many towers on the map to select from, all of which will be Unclaimed Towers. During the first week of a Season, from Monday, 3 a.m.–Saturday 7 p.m. server time, your Clan’s leader can select a tower through the Accursed Tower’s menu and attempt to claim it for your Clan, plunging your Clan into a PvE match against Hell’s minions for control of the tower by Purifying it. Only 1 tower can be claimed per Clan during the first week of the Season.

While fighting demonic hordes for control of the tower, your Clan’s objective is to collect Cursed Shards from slain demons. However, players can’t simply attack enemies as they normally would. To deal damage to your foes, first you’ll need to locate and activate the tower’s Curse Sources. Doing so will make enemies vulnerable, allowing you to dispatch them and collect their Cursed Shards. Once the timer runs out, the top 10 Clan members with the highest Cursed Shard amounts will have them added to your team’s total. A Clan can choose to do as many runs to collect Cursed Shards at the same tower as they desire, but only the highest team total will be retained. If your Clan has collected the most Cursed Shards among all Clans vying for that specific tower by Saturday at 7 p.m. server time, then your Clan will claim the tower.

Claiming a tower is cause for celebration within your Clan, but now you must defend it. Hell’s minions will attempt to retake their stolen home. Once your Corruption meter reaches a certain amount, demonic incursions will follow. Members of your Clan must come to defend your tower promptly or else it will be lost and can be reclaimed by another Clan.

There is a way to ward off Hell’s mindless marauders, though: by powering up your tower. Within the Accursed Tower’s menu, your Clan leader can choose to power up your tower. Doing so will not only end the attacks on it from demons but increase the bonuses provided by your tower and periodic rewards provided by the Rewards Chest inside of it. Beware, as powering up your tower does come at a cost—other Clans will be able to challenge your clan to a PvP match for control of the tower.

Contesting a Tower Through PvP

The rewards gained from towers sound desirable, right? The other Clans on your Server will certainly think so. Starting the second week of a Season, Clans can have a second tower under their control. From Saturday, 9 p.m.–Sunday 12 a.m. server time, Clans will be able to attempt to challenge for tower ownership from another Clan through an all-out PvP match. Should your Clan prevail, they’ll not only leave with bragging rights and a new tower to receive periodic rewards from, but also a bevy of rewards from participating in the PvP match, which can include Cursed Items.

Because the first season of Accursed Towers begins mid-week, the schedule for the first week will differ from subsequent seasons. The gameplay itself will be as detailed above. Here’s the schedule:

  • March 30 after maintenance period–March 31 at 3 a.m. server time: The Clan Leader will decide which tower they would like to try to claim.
  • March 31, 3 a.m.–April 1, 7 p.m. server time: Collect Cursed Shards at chosen tower.
  • April 1, 7 p.m. server time: Cursed Shard Clan totals are counted and the Clan with the most at each tower claims that tower.

Cursed Items

Cursed Items are a new type of Legendary Item that have a Cursed Property. They are obtainable from completing PvP matches and can also be dropped by enemies while collecting Cursed Shards from a PvE match. All Legendary Items that drop anywhere in Sanctuary will also have a chance of being a Cursed Item.

Cursed Items come with both a Positive and Negative Property attached to them. Neither Property will activate unless you have at least one other Cursed Item equipped that shares the same Positive Property. If you have two or more equipped Cursed Items, you will receive both the Positive and Negative Property effects from both. Positive Properties will grow in power as you equip multiple Cursed Items with the same Positive Property, with increases occurring at 4 and 6 Items.

For example, let’s say you have Shoulders with the following Positive and Negative Properties:

  • Your summoning skills have a chance to release a demonic roar dealing damage to nearby enemies.
  • Increases Cooldown of Dash skills.

Then you stumble across a pair of Boots with the following Positive and Negative Properties:

  • Your summoning skills have a chance to release a demonic roar dealing damage to nearby enemies.
  • Reduces Primary Attack damage.

Since both items share the same Positive Property, equipping both items will provide you with their shared Positive Property but also their Negative Properties: Increases Cooldown of Dash skills and reduces Primary Attack damage.

Cursed Items act as a double-edged sword but can provide you with extremely powerful bonuses that will bolster your character’s build!

Dread Reaver Dungeon

Dread Reaver is a brand-new dungeon experience unlocked after reaching Hell V difficulty and completing the quest Trail of Terror. Climb aboard and continue the Main Quest of Diablo Immortal, track the elusive Cult of Terror, and try to reclaim a stolen Worldstone shard before they can deliver it to one of their leaders, the Bride of Hell.

Share the darkest waters of Sanctuary with the Dread Reaver, a legendary vessel that devours anything in its wake. Keep your footing on its decks as you fight drowned aberrations, sea monsters, and the ship’s commander, an exile from an ancient and forgotten land.

Elite Quest: The Astral Bloom

In this new Elite Quest (available at Taite, the Adventure Seeker in Westmarch), you’ll aid a mysterious mage seeking to undo the wreckage of his past, and fight against a foe that will make reality tremble. Travel to a town under siege, defend a mystic observatory belonging to one of the Mage Clans, and explore the deadly horizons of the Astral Realm. The Astral Bloom awaits you, adventurer.

Players must have already completed the Main Quest of Stormpoint and have an Adventure Journal in their possession to begin the Astral Bloom Elite Quest.

3 New Legendary Gems

Three new Legendary Gems have been added to help take your character’s build to new heights. We take delight in seeing players bring to life unique builds using each newest batch of Legendary Gems at their disposal, and we’re looking forward to seeing how players will utilize this latest trio. The below values for each gem reflect their Rank-10 values:

Lo’s Focused Gaze (One-Star Gem): Increases damage done by your Charge skills by 20%. Charging speed is increased by 32%.

Pain Clasp (Two-Star Gem): Increases damage dealt by 24% to enemies suffering from a continuous damage effect. When an enemy suffering from continuous damage is within 10 yards, your Movement Speed is increased by 6%.

Gloom Cask (Five-Star Gem): Your Primary Attack unleashes an Aspect of Gloom for 6 seconds, during which time your Primary Attack will trigger gloom blades that deal 68% base damage + 275. Enemies hit by the gloom blades take 24% increased damage from your Primary Attacks for 3 seconds. Cannot occur more often than once every 20 seconds.

New Set Items: Banquet of Eyes

A new Set has been added as well—Banquet of Eyes—it is centered around punishing enemies suffering from your damage-over-time effects and rewarding you with buffs.

Banquet of Eyes (2-Piece Bonus): Damage dealt to enemies suffering from your damage over time effects increased by 15%.

Banquet of Eyes (4-Piece Bonus): Your Critical Hit Chance is increased by 2.5%, up to 25%, for every damage over time effect you inflict upon nearby enemies.

Banquet of Eyes (6-Piece Bonus): When you apply a damage over time effect to an enemy, you enter Poison Rage for 12 seconds during which your damage will corrode enemies, dealing damage over 3 seconds. Cannot enter Poison Rage more often than once every 40 seconds.

Banquet of Eyes Set Items will only drop from the following dungeons on Hell Difficulty V and above. Additionally, the drop rate for Set Items across all dungeons on Hell Difficulty V has been increased.

Bilious Bandlet (Ring): Dread Reaver

Cavern’s Regard (Belt): Forgotten Tower

Hex Walkers (Feet): Mad King’s Breach

Seeping Bandlet (Ring): Dread Reaver

Spurned Charity (Amulet): Kikuras Rapids

Teargrip (Hands): Tomb of Fahir

Ashes of Antiquity Limited-Time Event

Sightings of the Cult of Terror coupled with reported demonic disturbances have you leaving the comfort of your home to defend it. You dare walk the path directly into the heart of danger, a path rife with unspeakable salt-ridden horrors lying just below the water line, and Ashes of Antiquity to scour through for answers.

From March 30, 3 a.m.–April 20, 2:59 a.m. server time, players Level 30 and above will quell the burgeoning darkness by completing weekly Ashes of Antiquity tasks that will help you earn milestone awards.

Complete 3 tasks: 1 random Legendary Item

Complete 6 tasks: 1 Telluric Pearl

Complete 11 tasks: 1 Legendary Crest

Recall a Friend Limited-Time Event

Hell’s servants number many and will stop at nothing to see Sanctuary crumble in their maw. You must rally allies under your banner if you wish to turn the tide in humanity’s favor, for friends who slay together forge unbreakable bonds.

Starting on March 30, 3:00 a.m. reclaim Sanctuary with friends at your heels by using the Recall a Friend feature.

To recall players, you must be at least Level 30. Each player has a unique code that can be found on the Recall a Friend event page. Copy and share this code with your friend. Alternatively, you can recall a player via an in-game invitation system located within the event’s menu. To be recalled by another player, you must not have logged in to Diablo Immortal for at least 14 days and are level 20 or higher. Once you log in, input your friend’s code on the Recall a Friend event page. You will have 24 hours to input your friend’s code.

The recalling player will receive 10 Recruitment Points the first time they complete each of the following tasks:

  • Send an invite using the in-game invitation system: 10 Recruitment Points
  • Recall 1 player: 10 Recruitment Points
  • Recall 1 player and they gain Level 40: 10 Recruitment Points
  • Recall 2 players and they gain Level 40: 10 Recruitment Points
  • Recall 3 players and they gain Level 40: 10 Recruitment Points

Once you have accumulated the required number of Recruitment Points, the following rewards can be claimed from the Recall a Friend event menu.

Rewards for recalling player:

  • 10 Recruitment Points: 2 Beguiling Dust, 30 Scrap, and 5K Gold
  • 20 Recruitment Points: 6 Rare Crests and 6 Normal Gems
  • 30 Recruitment Points: 1 Legendary Crest, 3 Rare Crests, and 6 Normal Gems
  • 40 Recruitment Points: 1 Legendary Crest, 3 Rare Crests, and 6 Normal Gems
  • 50 Recruitment Points: 3 Legendary Crests and 9 Rare Crests

Recalled players will receive their rewards immediately after accepting the invitation or inputting their friend’s code. Recalled players can also receive an additional bounty of rewards if they reach Level 40. Only one code may be redeemed by each recalled player.

Rewards for recalled players:

  • Input friend’s code or accept their invitation: 15 Beguiling Dust, 200 Scrap Material, 30,000 Gold
  • Reach Level 40: 3 Rare Crests, 15 Beguiling Dust, 200 Scrap Material, 30,000 Gold

The ability to recall players ends on April 27 at 3:00 a.m. server time, but players will have until May 25 to reach Level 40 and claim their additional rewards.

Feature Updates

Activity Rewards Increase

Many activities in Diablo Immortal will now provide additional rewards or experience.

  • Rite of Exile: Players belonging to both the winning and losing sides will be rewarded with random items (including a guaranteed Legendary and Set Item), Hilts, and Scrap Materials. These rewards are provided directly after completing Rite of Exile.
  • Raid the Vault: Monsters killed inside the Vault have a chance to reward items of a random rarity, experience, and Gold.
  • Shadow War: Players that engage in the Shadow War will be rewarded with increased experience and a guaranteed random Legendary item.
  • Defend the Vault: Players that successfully defend the Vault will be rewarded with Hilts, experience, Gold, and Scrap Materials.
  • Immortal Age of Advancement Chests will reward Hilts, items of a random rarity, and Gold.
  • Heavy Ornate Chests will reward one Monstrous Essence.
  • All Main Quests reward additional experience.
  • Players will receive a Rare Crest as they complete Exploration achievements for each zone, with a milestone at 50%, 70%, and 100%.

Developer’s Note: One overarching theme of this patch is the restructuring of rewards. Our main goal was to dial up what players are earning for participating in different activities—based primarily on how much time the activity takes to complete—as well as what the actual rewards offer. We want to make sure that players feel justly rewarded for their efforts and continue to excite and delight players as they adventure through Sanctuary to reach their goals.

Battleground and Rite of Exile Balance

The Defense win condition of killing Attackers in both Battleground and Rite of Exile has increased from 55 to 65 kills.

Developer’s Note: We have carefully reviewed data, player feedback, and gameplay in Battleground and Rite of Exile and are keen on improving these features so that they feel more balanced, regardless of which side you’re on. Our goal is to make precision changes that we think will help shift the gameplay without changing too many aspects all at once. As we release these specific changes, along with other feature updates, we will continue to review and consider further updates to Battleground and Cycle of Strife.

Shadow War Time Change

Shadow War will now begin at 7:30 p.m. server time on Thursdays for the Preliminary Round and 7:30 p.m. server time on Saturdays for the Final and Third Place Playoff Rounds. The countdown to the Shadow War’s beginning will start at 7:10 p.m. server time to give players enough time to gather and organize for their fight.

Developer’s Note: With the introduction of Accursed Towers, we wanted to smooth out the experience for Clans who may be participating in PvP multiple times in one day. Rather than stretch out the period in which players need to be online to help their Clan or shifting the times from week-to-week, we felt it would be helpful to have these times remain static.

Rare Crests

Up to 10 Rare Crests may be used with each Elder Rift run.

Developer’s Note: Previously, players could only run an Elder Rift with a maximum of three Rare Crests at a time. We heard from many players that they stockpiled Rare Crests simply because they couldn’t use them as quickly as they could Legendary Crests. We hope this update will make Elder Rift runs using Rare Crests feel more efficient and rewarding.

Hero’s Journey Chapters 5 and 6

Chapter 5 and 6 of Hero’s Journey have unlocked! To continue walking the path to glory in Chapter 5, you must have completed chapters 1-4. Here’s a look at the rewards you will receive for completing these new Chapters.

Chapter 5:

  • 1 Legendary Crest
  • 900 Hilts
  • 30 Aspirant’s Key
  • 50,000 Gold

Chapter 6:

  • Boundary Walker Portal Cosmetic
  • 1 Legendary Crest
  • 900 Hilts
  • 36 Aspirant’s Key

Hilts Vendor

The Hilts Vendor has just increased their inventory! The following two transactions may be performed up to 15 times a week each:

  • Trading 100 Hiltsfor 50 Scrap Materials
  • Trading 75 Hilts for 5 Enchanted Dust

Developer’s Note: We are constantly evaluating where we can supply more upgrade materials for players to hunt down so they can further accelerate their progression through the ranks.

Activity Calendar and Scheduler

We are introducing some quality-of-life improvements that will make using the Activities Calendar and Scheduler more convenient.

  • The tap area in the Warbands and Clan menus has been increased.
  • Activities that occur “today” or “tomorrow” will state that instead of the numerical date.

Navigation Menu

The Navigation menu also received a few quality-of-life improvements to work in tandem with the Clan-centric features released in this Major Update.

  • A new Clan tab has been added to the Navigation menu. Both the new Accursed Tower game mode and Clan-related features that were previously found located in the Faction tab can be found in the new Clan tab.
  • The Quest tab will be removed from the Navigation menu. Quests can still be accessed via the Quest Tracker.

These changes are solely for the UI and do not alter the gameplay of the features they support.

New Bestiary Entries

We’re adding 20 new Horadric Bestiary entries to catalogue enemies fought in Stormpoint and new Helliquary bosses. They’re available wherever you slaughter monsters! After a player collects 10 Bestiary entries, they’ll receive a Rare Crest. Players will also receive a Legendary Crest after collecting 50 and 100 Bestiary Entries.

Clan and Cycle of Strife

Finding, joining, and recruiting for a Clan will now be more accessible than ever. As Clans become more critical in the continual struggle to control towers around Sanctuary, we want to arm both players and Clan Leaders with more means to find like-minded individuals. As such, we have made some improvements:

  • When players search for available Clans to join, they will be sorted from highest to lowest on the list according to their current number of Online Players.
  • Players without a Clan will receive more guidance on joining a clan and more easily see suggestions for Clans containing a high number of active players.
  • Players currently in a Clan can now apply to a new Clan without leaving their current Clan. If accepted to the new Clan, they will automatically leave the old one and join the new one.
  • During Shadow War, Rite of Exile, Challenge of the Immortal, and Accursed Tower’s PvP matches, players will be unable to leave their current Clan and Clan Leaders will be unable to remove members from their Clan. Members cannot be added to a Clan or substituted for these events once they are in progress.
  • Clan Leaders will now have a Member Recruitment interface available under the Clan tab, making it easier for them to find both players without a clan and in clans with low membership.
  • Dark Clan Leaders can now directly invite Adventurers to join them. If an Adventurer accepts, they will automatically become a Shadow.

Developer’s Note: Our intent with the Clan rule changes is to make it easier for players to find active Clans to join. Thus, improving their overall experience in the Accursed Towers and other Clan-based activities. Our intent is NOT to disrupt balance or make competition among Clans worse. We will continue to monitor Clan behavior and iterate on Clans and Cycle of Strife as needed.

Hide Helmet Cosmetic Option

We hope your character has recently visited the Westmarch Barber for a touch up, because you can now hide their helmet for select Cosmetic Sets. To hide your character’s helmet for eligible Cosmetic Sets, navigate to the Cosmetics menu and click the Hide Helmet button on the bottom left corner of the Cosmetic preview screen.

Feature Updates

Armory Optimization

  • The Armory will now allow players to choose whether to save specific items to Loadouts in addition to other properties (Legendary Essence, Legendary Gems, Bonus Attributes, Paragon Tree, and Skills). This change is being made to amend a bug that occurred when players would attempt to sell or disenchant an item that was saved within a Loadout.
  • A new Checkbox feature has been added to the Armory UI, allowing players to toggle whether specific equipment is saved to a Loadout. Players can check the box to save only properties or leave the box unchecked to maintain current Armory functionality.

Developer’s Note: Prior to this change, the process to alter saved loadouts was convoluted. We wanted to not only optimize this feature but make it operate in a fashion that best supported how players play. Now, it will be much more convenient for players to retain their builds as they incorporate new, more powerful items into them.

Telluric Pearls Crafting Streamlining

If you have previously visited the Gem-Binder in an Elder Rift, you can now craft Legendary Gems with Telluric Pearls directly at the Apprentice Jeweler via the Telluric Craft tab. Players will still need 40 Telluric Pearls to craft a Legendary Gem.

Helliquary Raid Notification Settings

Through community feedback, it was brought to our attention that receiving multiple Helliquary Raid invites at once hides pertinent gameplay information from the player. Now, when a player receives multiple notifications at once, an indicator will point to an option in the Settings menu that allows players to opt out of Helliquary Raid invitations until the next reset.

Hilts Trader Refresh Indicator

A timer has been added to the Hilts Trader’s shop menu to indicate when their stock will refresh.

Developer’s Note: We realized it was difficult to predict when the Hilts Trader’s inventory would refresh. We wanted to make this information more apparent to save players’ time.

Defend the Vault Queue

The queuing system for the Immortal team in Defend the Vault will now prioritize alerting a team near the front of the queue who has similar strength to a corresponding Shadow Raid. If no proper match is available, then the queue will continue as it previously did and alert the Immortal team closest to the front of the queue.

Adventurer’s Path Limited-Time Event

In Sanctuary few are capable enough to stand against the darkness and wager their life for the defenseless. But you, adventurer, have consigned your days to thinning out the ranks of the Burning Hells, ushering in safety where all hope was once lost. The downtrodden look up to you, and to continue serving them, you must walk the Adventurer’s Path.

From March 8, 3:00 a.m.–March 16, 2:59 a.m. server time, as you complete Adventurer’s Path tasks, you’ll earn gold, enchanted dust, and scrap materials for your heroics. Racking up enough completed tasks will also unlock these milestone rewards for you:

  • Upon completion of 3 tasks: 1 Random Legendary Item
  • Upon completion of 5 tasks: 3 Rare Crests
  • Upon completion of 16 tasks: 1 Telluric Pearl
  • Upon completion of 20 tasks: 1 Legendary Crest

Fractured Plane

In a place like Sanctuary, even those with the utmost mental fortitude can find themselves lost to the unrelenting darkness spread by the Burning Hells. Broken. Shattered. Trapped in the deepest recesses of their mind. Entering the Fractured Plane is the only way forward.

The Fractured Plane is a limited-time event where players enter an unexplored realm of their existence. A 15-floor gauntlet awaits, inhabited by the fiercest minions the Hells can throw your way. Your journey in the Fractured Plane begins without your usual gear, gems, and skills. Instead, you will be provided with a set of pre-selected skills for your class. To advance, you must rely solely on your wits, unstable gear you find, and the Chaos Coins you receive from progressing through hordes of demons. Best of all, only unstable gear of Legendary rarity will drop in the Fractured Plane, and items you receive will complement the skills you begin with, equipping you with the ability to make, and tweak, your build on the fly. When your journey in the Fractured Plane is over, all the unstable gear you’ve collected will vanish.

The Chaos Coins you earn will also come to your aid—at the Chaos Broker, you can exchange Chaos Coins for new items or Shards of Fortune. These shards will increase your Fortune Rating, providing a greater chance of receiving higher-quality Legendary items from chests on each floor. If you’re resourceful enough to make it to the fifteenth floor without dying more than five times, you’ll receive a reward. Out of all the Legendary items you’ve encountered during your run, select six, and out of those six, you will be rewarded one at random for you to carry out of the Fractured Plane.

Begin your journey towards mental appeasement—the Fractured Plane is available from March 16, 3:00 a.m.–April 6, 2:59 a.m. server time.

Season 11 Battle Pass: Sea Reavers

“Those who sail Sanctuary’s harsh oceans are mad through and through, yet no sanitarium can ever hold them.”
-Westmarch Nautical Scholar

Embrace the salt-scrubbed life of Sea Reavers, a new Battle Pass devoted to exploring Sanctuary’s high seas. The Season 11 Battle Pass emerges on March 16, at 3:00 a.m. server time. This Battle Pass hosts 40 ranks worth of challenges and rewards, such as Legendary Gems, Crests, Hilts, and more.

This Battle Pass will sink back to the seafloor on April 13, at 2:59 a.m. server time—begin slaying demons and climbing your way through the ranks today!

Accursed Secrets Limited-Time Event

Sturdy adventurers, capable and strong, have begun to recently visit the gulf’s shoreline in a mysterious ritual. Their exact destination is unknown but the direction they’re travelling in suggests somewhere to the northwest. While many souls have departed from the shore. . .few have returned, and of those few, it was too late to mend what remained of them. Oh, the accursed secrets we find ourselves bound to.

Beginning at Level 20, adventurers can uncover the Accursed Secrets buried deep beneath the shifting sands and receive rewards by logging in on specific days:

  • March 24: 3 Rare Crests
  • March 26: 1 Telluric Pearl
  • March 30: 1 Legendary Crest

Emissaries dispatched by the Burning Hells desire the secret knowledge you will soon possess. During the Accursed Secrets event, dispatch Cursed Elite monsters daily to receive additional rewards for keeping your knowledge safe. Plus, adventurers Level 30 and higher will receive 100% additional Battle Pass experience while the Accursed Secrets event is running.

Hungering Moon Limited-Time Event

Feeling underfed, the moon demands sustenance, providing you with an upcoming opportunity to sate its seemingly endless appetite for blood in this new version of Hungering Moon!

The moonlit path you’ll take to heed your lunar overlord’s howl for sustenance is ready to be travelled. Players can complete up to three tasks a day four times starting March 30, 3 a.m.–April 6, 2:59 a.m. server time. Through completing tasks, you’ll gain Astrolabe Power—the power can be used to draw one of two types of blessings with unique benefits from the Astrolabe.

Drawing a  Blessing of More will give you a 50% bonus to gold drops from dungeons or a 10% damage increase while in dungeons for a limited-time, handy for combating the monsters lurking about and adding extra heft to your coin purse. Each Blessing of More will supply you with 5 Moonslivers after using it.

Drawing a Blessing of Might invites you to complete any dungeon in exchange for Moonslivers, and if you complete the dungeon with a party, twice the amount of Moonslivers shall be bestowed upon you. The moon is a generous entity, so you may have one of each Blessing active at a time.

Once you’ve racked up a handful of Moonslivers by purging demonic hordes from dungeons, visit the Hermit’s Collection located within the Hungering Moon event page to trade your Moonslivers for lunar-laced rewards of your choice. Be sure to collect and use 12 blessings in total to earn The Moon’s Regard—a bounty of 90 bonus Moonslivers meant for the most exemplary devotees.

Brimming with generosity, the moon will also reward you with the below materials if you collect the listed amount of Moonslivers during the event’s duration. No Moonslivers need to be spent to acquire the materials.

  • 10 Moonslivers: 3 Rare Crests
  • 50 Moonslivers: 1 random Set Item
  • 130 Moonslivers: 1 Telluric Pearl
  • 230 Moonslivers: 1 Legendary Crest

Can you satisfy the moon’s hunger before the long night wanes?

Contest of Knaves Cosmetic

Sanctuary’s martial tournaments are a revered bloodsport. Fighting with honor in a match elicits silence, even booing from the crowd, for they revel in fatal, head-rattling blows. Victory at all costs is the only rule of this barbaric contest.

Uphold the gentry’s traditions—the Contest of Knaves Standard Cosmetic Set is available in the in-game shop for 1,000 Eternal Orbs.

Diablo Immortal – How to Improve Your Combat Rating (CR)

Featured

Check Out this Quick Guide for Increasing Your CR

Important: This quick guide has been written for those who already know the base mechanics of Diablo Immortal. If you are a brand new player, then there will be countless other guides which will include more basic information about how the game works. Published 29th July 2022.

In Diablo Immortal, a character’s ability to fight on any difficulty level is determined by their Combat Rating, or “CR” for short. This single statistic is formulated from things like:

  • Equipped Gear & Upgrade Level;
  • Socketed Normal and Legendary Gems;
  • Your Helliquary Level;
  • Upgrades to the Legacy of the Horadrim Vessels [Click to visit my guide on this]
  • Other Things That Can Help You… (Listed at the bottom)

This short guide will give you some information about the kind of tasks/activities you can do to increase your CR at a good rate, but there may be more stuff you can do. I am not an expert, just a player. I’ve written this as a response to more than one person asking in our Discord how they can improve their CR.

Before I go on, there is one important point I have to make:

Be PatientIt is not always a quick process to upgrade gear/gems and you will often hit slumps where you may only make gains of just a few CR points a day, and other times where you could add several hundred. It is unpredictable (unless you’re a whale who buys legendary crests and farms rifts!)

Equipped Gear

The goal of any player wanting to increase their CR, as quickly as possible, is to pick up legendary items for all the equipment slots. The game is designed to allow for legendary gear to be dropped by almost all creatures, chests and mission/quest rewards, BUT you can improve your chances by doing the following activities:

Dungeons:
This is one of the best ways to collect legendary gear. It is very common for the end boss of a dungeon to drop legendary gear, including Set Pieces. With a good party, or high level chars running you through, you could easily farm some nice gear in a short amount of time.

Bestiary:
Killing any creature in the game can result in the drop of a “Monstrous Essence”. Collect 10 of these and you can go to the nearest Safe Zone and use the Bestiary altar to decipher pages. Although you can only decipher up to three pages a day, you can claim your rewards as many times as you collect 10 essences. I have found this to be a good source of legendaries.

Shadow Contracts:
Each day, Bartender Bailey, in the Wolf City Tavern in Westmarch, offers Shadow players 1 or more contracts to complete. Among the rewards for completing these contracts is often a legendary item.

The Rarities and Antiquities Merchant:
This fellow, Yakin, can be found in Westmarch, along the southeastern end of Rakkis Plaza. His services will become available as you advance the main questline. You can spend extra gold with this guy to randomly generate items, for money. I advise only doing this a maximum of 10 times per day, per item category, as his prices go up after this point and it is really uneconomical. I once found 3 legendaries in the first set of 10 items I bought, so it can happen!

World Events & Bosses:
Each area of the game has it’s own world event to complete (Purge the Corruption, Call of the Ancients, Tax Collector, to name a few), or maybe a world boss (Blood Rose, Lord Martanos, Ancient Nightmare, Sand Golem, Hydra etc.) to vanquish. These attract a high drop rate for legendaries too.

Mob Farming:
The drop rate for normal creatures is infinitesimally small. However, when you’re out killing and you see an Ancient Elite (orange/brown icon on map)… KILL IT. The drop rate for legendaries from these creatures is high.

Note: It is important to note that Charms will also provide a CR boost, especially if you level their abilities up to.

Upgrading Your Gear

Now you have legendary equipment, you need to make sure that you upgrade it as often as possible. To do this, you will need the services of any of the blacksmiths around Sanctuary. I am hoping that, as you’ve been playing, you’ve been picking up all the loot dropped by the mobs and using the blacksmith to salvage it into scraps, dust or even glowing shards (from unwanted legendaries). You will need every piece of salvage you can get your hands on so please don’t dismiss those white, common loot drops…. you will see over time that you will never get enough!

Upgrading legendary gear requires all of it, but Glowing Shards are the hardest to get. It is largely only obtainable by salvaging legendary gear that you’ve picked up but not needed as you already have it, or it is inferior. There is also a recurring quest in the Dark Wood to fight your own dark shadow which rewards a players with a glowing shard each time.

In Westmarch, there is a vendor by the blacksmith, Charsi, who can convert lesser materials into higher class materials. This is a good service, but be careful not to overspend on scraps into dust, as then you’ll have to go collecting so much more scrap to upgrade stuff – you’ll need a good quantity of both.

Also, secondary gear requires Enigmatic Crystals which are mainly sourced from completing Challenge Rifts, but can also be a gift on the Battle Pass. Do not forget to upgrade secondary gear alongside primary!

Gems, Gems and Even Better Gems

Your CR will improve dramatically if you improve your gems, especially the legendaries.

Normal Gems

These gems are dropped by most of the creatures in the game but they are fairly rare to get. There are a couple of things you can do to improve your discovery of these little beauties:

Hilts Vendor:
The Hilts vendor in Westmarch allows 10 normal gems to be bought from him each week. Watch out for his special offers page as there is the option to buy 1 or 2 extra now and again.

Party of Four:
Just being in a party of four, with three other people, will give an automatic buff the the percentage chance of normal gems being dropped. Unlike other versions of Diablo, however, you will only ever see rank 1 normal gems drop.

Hidden Lairs:
These mini-dungeons, that randomly spawn in all areas of the game, are a fantastic way to boost your gem collection. For the first run through in a day, you can make around 6 normal gems just by doing the side quests that pop up as you go through, and by killing the boss at the end.

Legendary Gems

This is a little more complicated and I won’t go into the higher levels of these gems. By the time anyone gets there, they’ll probably know this game better than the developers or have moved on to Diablo 4 (out next year!). Legendary gems are predominantly sourced from Elder Rifts and/or can be Crafted by an Apprentice Jeweler. Levelling a legendary gem requires other legendary gems and this process gives a very healthy boost to CR. The problem is that it is not as easy to get them. The Battle Pass also gives some legendary gems out as rewards, more so if it is the Empowered Battle Pass.

Elder Rifts

There is a possibility for a legendary gem to drop from the end chest of an Elder Rift with no input, but I’ve only seen this a couple of times and not enough to actually upgrade another gem at this rate. What is needed are Eternal Legendary Crests to augment the rift. Each eternal crest will output a random legendary gem at the end of a rift, and up to 10 of these purple crests can be added to the rift before it begins. These can be obtained:

Buying Them from the In-game Store:
I wouldn’t spend money on them but many do.

Hilts Vendor:
This guy sells these for hilts at a rate of 1 per month (such a joke)!

Crest Merchant:
By the Elder and Challenge Rift entrances, is a merchant called Jondo Mauren. You can exchange Eternal Orbs (purchased only through microtransactions) for Eternal Legendary Crests.

Warband Voucher: (needs confirming)
I haven’t looked into this but there is a new mechanic whereby some warband raid awards a voucher that can be used to allow a player to buy an Eternal Legendary Crest from the Crest Merchant for platinum, rather than Eternal Orbs.

Crafting Legendary Gems

Alongside the miniscule chance that a legendary gem will naturally drop in an Elder Rifts, players can earn “Runes” and “Fading Embers” more easily. Beside the Elder Rift entrance is a Fading Ember Merchant, where a player can convert his embers into runes (for a price) and then these runes can be used by an Apprentice Jeweler to craft either specific 1-star legendary gems, or traded for random 1 or 2 star tradable gems. We don’t need to worry about the trading aspect here.

The player can choose which legendary gems he thinks will compliment his character and its build. The rest of the legendaries collected can be broken down, again by the jeweller, and used as materials to upgrade those socketed gems. Each time a legendary gem is upgraded, it will say how much of an increase to CR it will give. The higher the upgrade, the higher the CR boost.

The Helliquary

Each time your Helliquary is upgraded with Refined Scoria, This item gives an ever-increasing amount of CR, clearly visible on the item description.

Scoria is obtained by either killing the Helliquary bosses, or as gifts from the battlepass. This has to refined, using the services of a blacksmith.

Collecting and Upgrading the Legacy of the Horadrim Vessels

I have already covered most of the information regarding the LotH vessels in another guide found here.

For the purposes of this guide, the more you use the Culling Stones to upgrade the vessels, the higher the bonuses received and CR gained. I do not know how much CR is gained from boosting these types of stats and I apologise for not being more knowledgeable. What I will say though is that any stat boost will help you to kill stuff faster and earn more loot/cash for upgraded gear/gems.

Other Things That Can Help You…

Advancing Up Through the Paragon Levels

No matter what you CR is, you will still be able to fight at some level of the game and level up your character.

Once you have surpassed level 60, you will start to level into Paragons. Each time you gain a new paragon level, you will be awarded 1 paragon point to put into any of the paragon trees. Doing this will give you small, but cumulative bonuses to your characters statistics, including CR. This may be inaccurate, will investigate further.

Increasing You Shadow Rank

After being inducted into the Shadows, whether you decide to be in a Dark Clan or not, you are able to perform daily tasks, advance through the Path of Blood, raid the immortal vault, take on Shadow Contracts and/or attend the daily Assembly – to give and receive Blessings.

Doing these daily tasks can award you “Shadow Marks”, which are basically points which build up and allow you to continually increase your Shadow Rank. Each time you gain a rank, you will given a base bonus of 1% to attack and defence. So, if you reach rank 10, which in game terms is “Watcher III”, you will receive a 10% attack and 10% defence bonus to your character.

Note: If you are a member of a Dark Clan, doing all the above Shadow tasks also adds points to the Clan, which is really important for the clan leader boards and positionings for Shadow Wars. This is a different topic and one I won’t be covering here.

As I said at the start, I am not an expert and apologise if I have either missed out information or got it slightly wrong. Please feel free to let me know either via the Contact form, or Discord, if important changes need to be made.
